One of the best ways of generating traffic to your website is to start blogging. The best way to bring traffic to your blog is to write an SEO Friendly Post. Although some say that blogging is almost dead, I beg to differ, and there are definitely ways to increase blog traffic in 2020. I started blogging in 2015, and based on everything I have learnt over the years regarding SEO; I am here to share with you how to write an SEO Friendly Post. You will learn everything you need to grow your blog organically and aid in generating blog traffic. So, what exactly is SEO? Search Engine Optimization is the process of increasing the number of visitors and hits to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results on Google results page or other similar search engines. Here are a few tips and tricks that will teach you about how to bring traffic to your blog:

1. Keyword Research

The first step on how to get traffic to a new blog is keyword research. Even before you actually start writing a post, you need to look for keywords. The best and easiest method is to search on Google. Additionally, go towards the end of the page and look at ‘people also searched for’ section. Remember, to also check on other search engines like yahoo, bing and my favourite Pinterest.

2. Easy to read

Remember how you wrote essays in school? Use the same format to write content. Make sure you have a clear and clickable title because titles affect show your pages appear when shared on social media and in browser tabs. Make sure your content has the right length and is more than at least 300 words. Have a proper introduction of the topic, use headlines to explain and remember to conclude and have a call to action at the end.

Links can help greatly with SEO for, your own internal website site pages and blog posts as well as to external web pages. Internal links are links to your own web pages or posts and external links are links to other websites. When blogging, remember to add links to your own post and on pages. Getting a ‘backlink’ to your website from other websites will help with Google ranking and credibility.

4. Meta Descriptions

Meta Descriptions are descriptions on every page or post of your website that best describes the content for your readers. It appears right below your Title on search pages. Take time to explain to people what they can achieve or feel by reading your content.

5. Photos and Alt tags

Remember always to add photos relevant to your text because Google also takes your pictures into account. Make sure you describe your photos correctly and accurately. Alt tag is the information that is used for additional information about the image and help readers get clarity on the subject of the post.

Remember to correct all broken links because not updating them may send signals to Google regarding your site’s credibility. Often we leave old posts without updating, but it’s a great practice to update your website and posts from time to time considering a good user experience.

7. Speed of Website and SSL Certificate

The speed of your website if one of the most important factors keeping in mind SEO simply because nobody likes a website that takes forever to load. Two of the most common reason regarding a slow website is plugins and heavy images. Remember, to update your plugins regularly and delete plugins that are not required. Optimise your images to help speed up your website. SSL or  Secure Sockets Layer is the data files that keep your website secured. It moves websites from HTTP to HTTPS, which adds authenticity.

8. Social Media

Social media is a great way to bring traffic to your blog. Pinterest, which is often mistaken as a social media platform, is actually a search engine. Blogging is one of the easiest ways to to get hits on a website. Not only does it help with SEO, but it also helps to build a community online. 10. Yoast

One of the reasons why I prefer WordPress is the Yoast Plugin. Yoast is the best free plugin that will help you optimise your posts and help you master how to write an SEO friendly blog post. There are three signals, red, orange and green, and it helps with understanding the optimisation.
